With technology changing at such a rapid rate it’s difficult to know which one to choose when it comes to having your website built. One thing is certain and that’s that mobile and tablet purchases have been on the rise in recent years with record breaking sales reported year on year.
Although these devices change from time to time one thing remains the same and thats the browser used on the device, be it a built in browser like Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer or the code base that the browser has been build with such as Webkit. Web designers and front-end developers have in fact been battling with these browsers for years making websites look similar on different platforms and browsers.
With a responsive website generally the main thing that changes is the width of the device regardless of the type of device being used. The only thing that is likely to change drastically is the browser but that is not going to change much in the next few years in my opinion so having a responsive website that works now is probably going to work for the next couple of years if you get my drift.
So if you’re asking yourself why do I need a responsive website – the answer is simply because it’s future proofed, nothing dramatic will be changing in this industry for a good few years as far as how the website is viewed across multiple devices and browser technology.
